True or False? Spelling can make or break a name?

In your opinion- would you say that choosing an alternative spelling of a beautiful name can make or break it? ie. Elizabeth spelled Elyzabith, Victoria spelled Vyktorya.True or False? Spelling can make or break a name?
Weird, misspelt versions of beautiful names always completely ruin the name. People seem to think that misspelling a name makes it more you-neek or interesting, but actually it just makes it look tacky and ugly. :]True or False? Spelling can make or break a name?
True it can. Not always, but it does in more cases when it doesn't.





Very alternative ones like Elyzabith almost always breaks it. But something more mild like Elizabith I would say takes away from it but is not a horrible alteration and doesn't 'break' it.





There are also legitimate alternatives like Elisabeth. Know I think this could 'make it' with certain last names since is less common than Elizabeth but I've seen people on this site saying ';It's spelled with a Z not an S'; so some are a matter of opinion.





The things I hat most are spelling 'ley/lie' ending like Lee like Ashlee it's horribly tacky


and adding Ys I have seen a few I like, very few because it usually looks so forced and unnecessary.
A lot of times when you back the spelling different it looks like you didn't know how to properly spell the name and tried to spell it phonetically. It almost always looks wrong and I would imagine the child would get made fun of for having illiterate parents.
I think it ruins the name, I just saw a question and one of the names was Mysty, really if you're going to name your kid a dogs name at least spell it right. I think ';alternative'; ';Youneek'; spellings destroys the beauty of a name.
yes, yes, yes, definitley, especially recently people have begin to just add y's to names and most of them it just makes look trashy and takes away the names character

well it depends. for ur examples and many other names it is awful lol. but for example y sisters name is spelt Shelbie instead of Shelby and i like it how hers is spelt better

yes...........i think the traditional spellings are much better and wouldn't consider them if they were spelled the other way.

True!! Just stick wiht normal spelling people! the only name i like spelled two differnt ways is Sophie/a and Sofie/a... i prefer Sophie... but i don't mind the other one... but like Jakeob and Jacob... yeah...
