History itself is not a science.





Whilst it's (usually) based on fact, it's the human account of things that happened and thus can be quite flawed. Just look at anything with a conspiracy theory attached.





However science plays a part. For example arcaelogists are able to use science to date things.
History is considered to be a part of the social sciences (geography, government, civics, economics too). These subjects are referred to as ';soft'; sciences. Therefore, no, they are not truly a science.
